Here Kitty, Kitty!

We love kitties at our house, so I went looking on the internet for a simple and sweet (and free!) kitty pattern.  This one, by Drawn and Hooked, hooked me immediately!

To scale to tiny dolls, 4 to 6 inches tall, I used fingering weight yarn and a size 2 steel hook.  With this yarn and hook the kitties are 2 1/4 inches long.  Her pattern is called Neko Atsume, and it will take you less than two hours to make one.

Clearly it was impossible to stop at just one kitty!

  3. Hitties with Kittys! That's hilarious and exactly what I would think of doing! After I crocheted your Bluette doll, I made her a crocheted kitty of her own. Very fitting, don't you think?

PS: Take a look at the Cat purse I just posted on my blog! If you love Cats as much as I do, you might want to sew one too! It's Simplicity pattern 1181.

  5. They are purrfect for our Hitty's and Nancy's. They must be awfully small because mini Hitty is only slightly over 4" and she was holding all 3 kitties and they looked to size. Thank you for the link. I am taking a break from crochet. My neck, and left hand are aching from too much hooking. I'm doing some punch needle work, embroidery hoop art. Until I can take up the hooks again, I will just enjoy your work and take delight in it.

    1. I imagine the tight hooking to make Abby the horse would give anyone's hands cramps. Hopefully it won't be too long before you're back, and embroidery is a beautiful way to spend the time :-)

      warmly,

      Beth

  6. I love your patterns, Beth, and I also love the links you provide. I don't make dolls, as I already have too many dolls, but I do use your clothing patterns to make nice wardrobes for them. This kitty pattern looks like fun, and as a kitty lover myself (4 cats), I feel a need to give the dolls some cats. Thank you for sharing your patterns and links to other good things.

    1. Thank you for your sweet words, Nancy; is it possible to have too many dolls??!

As for kitties, we've had as many as four, but now have two :-)

      Beth
